Amid the horror of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a series of investigations by Global Witness revealed the links between a German energy company and the fossil fuels supply chains involved in aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities.
With print, online and TV media reports documenting the case in detail, we decided to focus on the human stories that are too often overlooked, interviewing the survivors of missile attacks as well as the researchers and policy experts who can put their stories in context.
First screened publicly at the Innsbruck Journalism Festival in Austria, 'Fuelling the Invasion' is a compelling short documentary that combines investigative, testimonial and reportage approaches to convey the human impact of a seemingly abstract and technical problem.
“Oblique Collective are a joy to work with — dedicated to the success of the project, and flexible in the face of challenges. I’m looking forward to opportunities to collaborate with them again." - Louis Wilson, Head of Fossil Fuels Invesitgations, Global Witness.
